Classroom Inclusion of Students that are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

September 30, 2011, Northfield, MN – Auditory Sciences, LLC., the developer of suite of communications products for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing communities, announced today that they will be presenting a seminar at the Closing the Gap Conference on the best practices for inclusion of students that are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in the classroom. This includes K-12, as well as university and college settings. Four main aspects will be discussed:

(1) Recommendations for setting up the listening, visual and seating environment within your classroom to make it communications-friendly for the students;

(2) Suggestions for partnership between regular education and deaf/hard-of-hearing teachers;

(3) Best practice recommendations for higher education settings (universities and colleges) and planning for the transition of a student from K-12 to higher education settings;

and (4) New technologies that help minimize the inefficiency of the "triangle of communication" between the student, an interpreter (or scriber) and the teacher/professor.

The Closing the Gap conference is being held at the DoubleTree Conference Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota from October 12-14, 2011. This presentation will be given on Oct. 12th, starting at 12:30PM.
